Our home network has over 70 devices on it, and that number rises when family visits. While many of the end point devices will leave with us, the backbone is in place and will remain. Here is an outline
Network
- Our network features Ubiquiti hardware, which can control Internet, Telephone, Security Cameras, door access and more.
- Ethernet drops are in almost all rooms, with central hubs in the basement and second floor office. Some rooms have multiple drops (e.g., five in the Den)
- All of the drops run back to either the second floor office or the basement closet. While the modem and router are currently in the second floor office, the home's new owner could easily place that equipment in the basement
- There are wireless access points on each of the three levels, and three outside. A total of nine switches, six access points and six Ubiquiti cameras
Security Cameras
- There are three "generations" of security cameras
- Four analog cameras (two basement, one garage, one front door), that run to a DVR in the basement gym area, will stay with the house (as well as the TV there)
- IP Cameras: five non Ubiquiti cameras (three front, one back, one lower barn) that currently use Blue Iris software installed on a PC
- Six Ubiquiti cameras (one doorbell, four back yard, one Pavilion)
Internet of Things (IoT)
- Mostly Echo Dots, outlet cubes, smart power strips, etc. that will go
- Seven smart outlets, two Nest thermostats, five smart switches will stay
TV/Cable
- Most rooms have two drops: one for cable TV, the other for Over the Air
- Den home theater area features inwall jack panek for Ethernet, cable, 5 channel speakers and back yard speakers
- Main coax splitters for each system are located in the workshop ceiling
- UHF TV antennas are roof mounted, and bring in over 50 stations from NYC, CT and the local area
Central Station Alarm System
- Alarm panel is fully wired to all endpoints (doors, windows, shock sensors, smoke/heat detectors)
- Three keypads (front foyer, mud room, primary bedroom)
- smoke detectors all three levels and garage
- central station monitored via cellular communicator
- wireless panic button
HVAC
- Viessmann Vitodens 100-W B1KE120 Combi Series wall mounted gas fired condensing boiler with 3.5 inch display on demand hot water heater/hot water furnace (95.0 efficiency rating), installed 11/30/22
- Three zone hot water heating controlled by Nest smart thermostats on main and second floor (basement heat controlled by Honeywell programmable thermostat)
- Central air conditioning: Fujitsu 4 ton 16 SEER condenser and air handler, installed 10/27/20, controlled by second floor Nest smart thermostat
In ground Sprinkler Controller
- The Rachio 16 zone controller is included (14 zones wired, two open)
- There are several personal weather stations within a mile that upload data to weather geek sites that the Rachio controller can access to gather local data and skip watering schedules when not needed.
- The in ground sprinkler system has four manifolds located around the grounds housing the various zone valves
